T-Cell Project utilised LaRDR data for model validation

News, Newsletter

Congratulations to Dr Greg Hapgood and other investigators who utilised LaRDR data in the international T-Cell Project as an external validation cohort in a prognostic model. Visit our website for more research output.

The SALENTO model was specifically developed for limited stage PTCLs by the International T-cell Project (TCP) in conjunction with the LaRDR. As a prognostic model specific to PTCLs had not been built, the committee approved the project.

The model was developed from patients prospectively registered in TCP 1 (2006-2018) and validated with patients entered from LaRDR and Brazilian registries in TCP 2 (2018 onwards). The model has greater discriminatory power than established prognostic indices. It identifies a low-risk group with a favourable prognosis with current therapy and a high-risk group with poor outcomes. This model may be applied prospectively in routine clinical practice and future trial design.

The contribution of all participants enabled the LaRDR to serve as an invaluable source of patients for the validation cohort in this rare group of diseases. Involvement through the LaRDR gave me the opportunity to work with international researchers in the TCP in these rare diseases.

I would encourage investigators to continue to support the LaRDR and to propose ideas for research projects that may occur nationally and/or with international collaborations.
